Surface finish of the cut is equivalent or superior to grinding with an accuracy of plus or minus .003".  Any size combination of spacers can be stacked to achieve 12 inches.  Narrow spacers should be placed in the middle of the arbor and wide spacers to the outside.  Side plates with thumb screws maintain constant pressure on the spacers.  Depth of cut can be heavy or light as required (.125 thousands is not uncommon).
